Do you accept insurance?

At the present time, I am accepting Cigna Health Insurance.

I am also an Out-of-Network provider. This means I work with individuals who are not going through their insurance for therapy services. I understand that insurance coverage can be an important consideration when finding the right therapist. I am more than happy to provide you with a superbill for each session if agreed upon before starting services.

A superbill serves as a receipt, which you can submit to your insurance company. Depending on your out-of-network benefits, the insurance company will often reimburse you fully or partially for our visits.

If you would like to use your out-of-network benefit, but are unsure about your coverage, I highly recommend contacting the insurance company prior to scheduling an appointment. When you contact them, ask about “reimbursement for out-of-network behavioral health providers.”

Why should I invest in myself instead of going through insurance?

This is a very good question and one that I would ask myself! While there are a multitude of reasons why both my professional clients and I prefer not go through insurance, I am going to provide you with the 3 most important reasons.

Reason 1: Insurance and managed care companies require that I submit a mental health diagnosis that becomes a permanent part of your medical record.

  • This can be of concern to many, such as but not limited to, individuals with sensitive jobs or those trying to buy life insurance (think pre-existing conditions). I believe that every individual is dynamic in nature and has a unique set of life experiences. That being said, I prefer not to place someone in a square clinical diagnosis box that will permanently stay with you.

Reason II: Insurance and managed care companies can impact your confidentiality.

  • In addition to requiring a clinical diagnosis that becomes a permanent part of your medical record, they may also request additional personal information and/or details about your treatment. I prefer to offer a therapeutic experience in which your information remains as confidential as possible.

Reason III: Insurance plans can dictate the number of sessions and/or the type(s) of treatment you receive.

  • I believe it is important as a clinician to be able to offer an “out of the box” NOT “one size fits all” therapeutic experience that is most relevant to your needs and tailored to your goals.

What forms of payment do you accept? Will I be informed of a fee change?

Services can be paid for using: cash, check, credit card, or HSA. I am happy to accept whichever payment method is most convenient for you.

Please Note: I utilize a credit card payment processing system called Stripe, which provides PCI compliant secured processing in order to protect your confidentiality.

Fee Changes: Communication is one of my top priorities. Any updates/changes made to the Wellcore, PLLC self-pay rate (typically occurring on January 1st) will be provided to clients in advance. Please do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions regarding fee changes.

Does attending therapy mean I am “weak” or better yet, “crazy?”

Diagnosis: HUMAN.

First off, there is no such thing as “crazy.” We ALL come into this world with unique challenges, face life stressors, and/or encounter illness of some form. Your brain is an organ, just like your kidneys, liver, heart, and stomach.

Your mental health and wellness are medical in nature and are equally, if not more, deserving of support than anything else in your physical body. I want you to know that supporting your brain through therapy as a preventative measure or to address ongoing struggles is no different than seeing a specialist for heart concerns or attending your yearly check-up at the doctor’s office.

With all of that said, attending therapy makes you as HUMAN as the rest of us and by no means crazy.

Unfortunately, the stigma that surrounds therapy and mental health prevents people from getting the care they need. At least 1 in 5 people struggle with mental illness (which I believe is an under representation), yet less than half of those people actually receive treatment. You deserve better than that!

I want you to know, just by starting this process, you are already showing yourself how much strength, courage and resiliency you have inside. Allowing yourself to be vulnerable and face some of your most difficult traumas and stressors is the exact opposite of weak!  Through the therapeutic process, you are the one that will come out ahead with the tools and coping skills needed to move forward and confidently navigate this life. Never let the barriers or stigma hold you back from obtaining a life of health and happiness.
